Overview

Spinacre was founded durring the early 13th century in spring of the year 1236, by Bleddyn Shovelton. The establishment of Spinacre was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Spinacre's construction back out of the project. Bleddyn Shovelton pushed on reguardles, and Spinacre was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Spinacre was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Spinacre is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Spinacre is buildings are built arround a single broad cobblestone mainstreet which forms a counterclockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town has a defencive wall made from large clay bricks. The wall is constructed to the exact specifications of millitary fortifications, but the nature of its clay brick construction leaves it vulnerable to even outdated siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. The town's brittle defences have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

A look around Spinacre is like a look into a broken heart. There is no planning, no organization. Everyone here clearly goes about their own thing with little thought to anyone around them who isn’t selling something they need. It’s not malicious. Heads are hung. Eyes are empty. Something truly horrible happened here once upon a time and the town never healed.

Cultural Notes

The style used is known for its buildings being predominantly formed through the combination of basic geometric shapes. However, it shown in the detailing given to the structures such as its characteristic tall columns, intricate detail, symmetry, harmony, and balance in their designs to an astonishing degree of precision. Decorative elements for the buildings tended to be built into the structure itself, making great use of fluting, frescoes, inlays, and embossing.

This may be due to some unique resource found only there, or some carefully-guarded craft, or it may be a special service that can only be provided by the locals, who are somehow unique in their forms or abilities.

Spinacre is known for its odd use of round-a-bouts, small ring roads used in place of intersections.
